The Well Control website and mobile application (the “App”) are educational and self-study resources. They are designed to introduce or help users review well-control concepts, terminology, calculations, warning signs, shut-in principles, well-kill methods, scenarios and lessons from incidents.
The website and App provide general educational information only. They do not provide engineering, operational, safety or other professional advice and must not be used as the basis for a live operational decision.
2. Not approved training or certification
The website and App are not an IWCF, IADC or other accredited training course, examination or certification programme. Their use does not certify or demonstrate that a user is competent, trained, authorised or fit to perform a well-control role.
Quiz scores, completion records, progress and results are learning aids only. The App does not replace approved training, supervised practice, drills, assessments, site induction, employer authorisation or formal competence assurance.
3. Approved procedures take priority
Always follow the current approved requirements for the actual operation, including the well programme, well-control manual, bridging document, emergency response plan, rig procedures, equipment manuals, applicable regulations and instructions from authorised supervisors.
If website or App content differs from an approved procedure, programme, regulation, equipment limitation or authorised instruction, the approved operational requirement takes priority. Stop work and seek competent supervision if there is uncertainty.
4. Calculations and technical assumptions
Well-control calculations depend on the accuracy of inputs, units, pressure and depth references, fluid properties, equipment configuration, well geometry, operating conditions and local procedures. Examples on the website or in the App may simplify these factors for teaching purposes.
- Independently verify all inputs, units, conversions and assumptions.
- Use approved calculation sheets, verified software and required independent checks for operational work.
- Never use website content, a quiz answer, hint, worked example, glossary entry or scenario response as a live well-control instruction.
5. Accuracy and currency
Peakwalk Info Tech Ltd. (“Peakwalk”) aims to provide technically credible content. However, the website or App may contain errors, omissions, ambiguous wording, outdated information, incorrect calculations or content that does not apply to a particular operation, organisation, jurisdiction or equipment configuration.
Standards, regulations, technology and accepted practice change. Users are responsible for checking current authoritative sources and approved company requirements.
6. Incident and scenario content
Incident summaries and operational scenarios are provided for learning. They may condense complex events, omit disputed facts or adapt details into questions. They are not official investigation reports, legal findings or definitive accounts. Consult the original investigation report and authoritative sources where available.
7. No emergency use
The website and App do not monitor a well, provide alarms, contact emergency services or give situation-specific instructions. Follow the approved emergency response plan and directions from authorised personnel. Never delay an operational or emergency response to consult them.
8. User responsibility and liability
You are responsible for how you interpret and apply website or App content. Exercise professional judgement, work within your competence and authority, and obtain appropriate advice and supervision.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Peakwalk and its officers, employees, contractors, contributors and licensors are not responsible for loss, damage, injury, death, environmental harm, non-productive time, loss of well control, equipment damage or business interruption arising from reliance on, misuse of or inability to use the website, App or their content. Nothing excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
9. Report a content concern
Report a suspected website error, unclear question or outdated item through the in-app reporting function or by emailing matt@eaxmarketplace.com. Identify the relevant webpage, module, category, question, scenario or term. Do not include confidential well or employer information.
